If there is ever a day to venture outside in NYC for lunch, today was that kind of day. I decided I’d head to Korilla BBQ with a friend, and see if there were any dairy free options.
Korilla BBQ has been featured on Food Network’s “The Great Food Truck Race, Season 2″, and was supposed to be really good. So since we were set on going out to eat, I thought it’d be a good day to give it a try.
Although their menu is online (a great thing if trying to eat out dairy free), they didn’t list their ingredients, which was frustrating. I decided I’d go and ask…
Turned out not to be a problem. There was actually very little dairy, unless you wanted to add cheese. I opted for the “Ribeye of the Tiger” beef burrito. This was actually a bulogi beef burrito, with red kimchi, bacon kimchi fried rice (AWESOME), and korilla sauce (basically spicy mayo). They have chicken, pork, and tofu… multiple variations of kimchi, and multiple options of veggies. All of this is dairy free. Check out the menu here (http://www.korillabbq.com).
Although there was a sizeable line, it was worth it for three reasons: 1) The weather was perfect 2) The food was Great 3) It was Dairy free!
I would definitely go back (although I wish the burritos were a little bigger). Don’t be afraid to tweet them and ask any allergy questions, they are pretty good about responding. @korillabbq
